Oscar Stone's killer is brought to trial under high security. Peter Church is a key witness, and young prosecutor Dawson Lynch is anxious he stays composed. The accused is represented by high-profile criminal barrister Ingrid Burton. Tension rises with the appearance of a mysterious man, Mister Brown, whose presence unsettles the police.

Church and Angie are hunting for the shady doctor who may have operated on Cartwright. While chasing leads at a pub, Church-posing as an armed robber-is approached by a young woman who claims to have the info he needs. Outside, she reveals herself as a cop: Christina Dichiera. The sting backfires, and Church and Angie are busted.

After a successful sting nets drug dealer Ronnie Burgess, Harris offers him witness protection in exchange for his supplier's name. Ronnie agrees-but backs out before the deal is made. Suspecting foul play, Church goes undercover and learns that Ronnie's supplier has abducted his son, Max, and is threatening to harm him if Ronnie talks to police.

As Harris pursues Rawlinson, it seems Macy may take the fall. But Danni negotiates a deal granting Macy immunity, sending Chris undercover at the video store instead. A friendship forms between the two, and together they discredit Steve, the cocaine dealer. This forces Rawlinson to take charge, setting him up perfectly for a regulation buy/bust sting.

Chris finally feels she's making a real impact when she devises a way to infiltrate the Logan crime family-three violent brothers ruled by their ruthless mother. Their current plan: murder. When a sting appears to go wrong and Church's mark is shot dead, Church realises the truth-he was the real target. But why would they want him dead?

Helen Vanderhoeven, a middle-aged woman, arrives at Police HQ with a cardboard box, claiming it contains a bomb. The Bomb Squad discovers something far stranger-severed testicles. Harris believes there's a personal connection to Church and assigns him the case. It's revealed the organs belong to her husband, Miles.

Church's ill-fated pursuit of the cocaine-fueled Vidarl crew takes a dark turn when most of them are found dead, victims of a violent armed robbery where a large stash of Vidarl cocaine is stolen. The sole survivor is Theo Bolton, the cleaner. Theo, suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome, is intellectually limited but driven by his insatiable appetite for sex and doughnuts.

Church is undercover at a building site investigating union corruption and the disappearance of activist John Lewis. X-rays have revealed a body buried in concrete, and all signs point to it being the missing worker. Union enforcer Tom Steer is the prime suspect. Church continues to push, and Steer warns him off.

Church bugs Harris' office, hoping to gather evidence of corruption. Harris sends Church undercover to a construction site where Steer, Ingrid Burton's client, was murdered. Church is tasked with working as a union troubleshooter alongside Rick Tyson.

Church and Angie continue to uncover connections between Conrad (Oscar Stone's killer), suspected drug kingpin Stig Endquist, and union enforcer Rick Tyson. Church begins to suspect his superior, Undercover head Luke Harris, is protecting this potential drug empire and keeps Harris out of the loop. Harris, noticing Church's secrecy, believes he's corrupt.

Harris is clearly losing it. He's imagining things and hearing whispered conversations between his officers that just aren't happening. He's sure they're out to get him.

When Church finally confesses to Harris that he used Undercover funds to finance his unauthorized investigation into Rick Tyson's drug dealings, things take a dangerous turn. With Tyson now dead and the funds seemingly unrecoverable, Church's admission sends shockwaves through the team. The truth is out, and the tension between Church and Harris escalates to new heights.

Church and Harris are under intense pressure. Drug lord Stig Endquist has learned that Harris is getting close to uncovering his operation and has pulled some strings. As a result, a Police Integrity Panel is now investigating both Church and Harris for an alleged drug trade of their own. The two men find themselves under the harsh spotlight, with their careers hanging in the balance.

Following the shooting, Ingrid starts to have serious doubts about Endquist. She resigns as his lawyer and begins to reconcile, at least partially, with Church. Ingrid plans to leave the country to distance herself from the growing mess. However, her plans are abruptly interrupted when she is kidnapped by Conrad, throwing her into further danger.
