Determined to preserve the team's hard-fought reputation, Traci hosts a grueling week of auditions before ultimately selecting a team of just 7 dancers to lead a new generation of G Girls.

As the community packs the stands for the hotly-anticipated start of the football season, the G Girls struggle to overcome their performance anxiety and falter in their debut halftime show.

As the bonds between Traci and her new team begin to deepen, Traci is floored by the discovery that her would-be captain Kiara is failing one of her classes. Learning that not one but two girls have failing grades, Traci benches both of them.

Troubled by the leadership void on the team, Traci looks away from Kiara to a younger and exceptionally talented dancer - Jaida. But, in contrast to her bold performance style, Jaida is shy and unconfident outside of the studio.

The girls prepare for the all-important band evaluation performance. A regional competition judged by professionals, the event offers the first formal review of the team that tests their talent against the teams that came before them.

While the season has ended for the football team, the band and G Girls learn that they are one of a select number of high school teams chosen to perform at the highly-attended HBCU invitational in Orlando.
