Survivorman

When Les Stroud fails to show up after a week of backpacking through the rugged mountains of Sierra Nevada, a rescue team is called in. Stroud, with no food, water or survival gear manages to get lost in his hike. In his bid to commune with nature, has our Survivorman taken it too far this time?

Les Stroud takes to the Colorado Rockies with Flint, his riding horse, and Remington, his pack horse. Given his limited experience with horses, the adventure turns out to be quite a challenge as Stroud needs to fend for two other living beings apart from himself! Amidst the beautiful slopes and rivers, the Survivorman and his horses run the risk of getting lost or dying from starvation.

Les Stroud gets to northern Baffin Island in the Arctic Tundra a few weeks too early for the caribou migration, and runs the risk of dying from starvation. The "summer" season here sees 24-hour daylight and marks the melting of the ice, which results in people being left stranded. Our man is all set to survive a place where every month is a new season - with very little food!

This week, Les Stroud has an accompanying friend, Bob, who joins him on his hunting trip to the forests of Temagami. When plans for bear, moose and caribou hunting go wrong, Stroud is forced to measure the pros and cons of bringing along a friend on an adventure such as this.

Les Stroud flies an ultra-light aircraft into the heart of the Australian Outback, and he makes an emergency landing when it runs out of gas. This desert is one of the driest places on earth, and it is up to our Survivorman to survive amongst the wallabies and kangaroos, without food, with very little water and all alone.

This week, we accompany Les Stroud to the humid and hot Papua New Guinea, home to one of the world's oldest and most bio-diverse jungles and witness to frequent volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Here, he lives out a week with only a machete to protect himself!
