The Big Catch

Eight anglers get their first test in some of the most extreme conditions they've ever faced. They fish from sea kayaks in a freezing fjord and learn traditional techniques to land cod, before heading out to fly fish for trout.

Seven remaining anglers trade the North Atlantic for tropical Cuba. They pursue the ghostly bonefish before heading to the Bay of Pigs to fish like locals. Then, it's on to the Atlantic coast in search of giant tarpon.

Six competitors take on the blistering heat of the mighty Mekong. They'll start with bamboo poles and traditional cast nets, before seeing if their own sport-fishing gear can accomplish something that local methods cannot.

Five anglers move on to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, where roosterfish are their first target. After battling the surf to try methods used by locals, they head out to sea to find sailfish, the fastest game fish in the world.

Off of British Columbia, four anglers use unfamiliar techniques to land Chinook salmon. Inland, they fly fish for bull trout, before going after one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, the white sturgeon.

After going for vundu catfish in the Zambezi river, the three finalists trade their modern gear for bamboo poles and dugout canoes. They'll finish up with one of the most fearsome fish in Africa, the tigerfish.
