Major Randolph takes out travel insurance for a flight to Tangier. The plane crashes and Randolph is listed as missing-believed-dead, but Eastern Insurance are tipped off that the major was not on board. Mr Simpson collects his firm's payroll - a job he's done for the previous twelve years. But this time something goes wrong and Simpson is found robbed and assaulted - and his driver, George Peterson, has vanished. Professor Kayle headed off to live on a deserted Pacific island seven years ago, after prophesying that humanity was doomed.
