The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist

Seven accomplished artists compete for a once-in-a-lifetime, career-defining exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden. The artists face their first commission, creating a work that explores and challenges gender norms in modern society.

With the advent of social media, Andy Warhol's prediction that "everyone will get fifteen minutes of fame" is more profound than ever. In this commission, the artists must create works that reflect the world's love affair with social media.

Living through a global pandemic made us revisit how we live our lives. In their most personal commission yet, the artists must reflect on grief, loss, and family to create an artwork inspired by how they survived or thrived during the pandemic.

The words "liberty and justice for all" are burned into the American psyche. But what does justice mean to us today? From animal rights to civil rights, the artists must showcase a profound injustice through their art in this commission.

In the penultimate episode of The Exhibit, the artists take a look back at their past works for inspiration to create new pieces that explore their ideas and hopes about the future.

In the series finale, the artists have one last chance to impress the judges with a self portrait. Then, three finalists are chosen to showcase their work at the Hirshhorn Ball, but only one will win the exhibit of a lifetime and $100,000.
