On the night train to Scotland, with time running out, the Famous Five are on their own as they race to recover Quentin's machine from an unknown thief.

As the summer draws to a close, George sets in motion a new adventure: protecting a circus magician from an unscrupulous doctor who wishes to make use of his powers in the clinic.

With George detained in Dr Graves's hospital, and her cousins helpless, the Famous Five must find a way to save the Great Supremo and protect the Eye of the Sunrise.
