The Fox Badger Family

Every year, the great inter-burrow games sees the children of the forest competing in a series of events. Each family must choose someone to represent them. It is difficult for our composite family (Fox-Badger) to chose a child, especially when Scoutbadger and Rosie both want to participate.

Rosie and Biva have found a superb burrow that Rosie's father could use when he visits the area. The only problem is that Scoutbadger and Woodsy have also discovered it and Scoutbadger would like to make it into a games room.

Woodsy's latest collection is made up of a staggering 345 pine cones that he has hidden in the guest room. Edmund is furious and asks his son to find another place for his collection. After several unsuccessful attempts, Woodsy finally chooses Loudo's underground burrow. Just when he thinks he has found the perfect place, he gets a big surprise.

Rosie wants to give her brothers a surprise afternoon snack in the forest. She needs Lucien, Loudo's father's help. He will accompany them to the wild bees' nest that she has found. However, Berry's unexpected presence will threaten Rosie's plans.

Scoutbadger has made a bet with Pico that his father, Edmund, who never gives the children any lessons, will be there tomorrow. He has, of course, been a little hasty as, for Edmund, this is out of the question.

It's Mother's Day when all the mothers get together to talk about their daily lives and the community. Meanwhile, the fathers and children prepare them a pleasant evening along with some surprises. Rosie has decided to mark the occasion with a lovely sculpture for her mother but things do not turn out quite as expected.

Scoutbadger goes for a walk with Rosie and her father, Basil. During the walk, Scoutbadger discovers that the flamboyant Basil, who tells him stories that fire his imagination, is more at ease with the tales he tells than with reality.

Scoutbadger has been invited to sleep over at Martis's home and, for once, has to ask his father for permission instead of asking Margaret as he usually does. However, Margaret is not there today and Edmund is in a very bad mood.

Rosie talks too much. She has told the twins that her best friend, Biva, is going to meet Loudo. The two brothers are extremely excited at the news and decide to spy on the two children. This is a catastrophe for Rosie - unless...

Thinking that Margaret is going to move out, the children decide to go into training to become 'good children' as they think their numerous quarrels have provoked Margaret's decision.

Grandpa and Grandma have come to look after the children. In the afternoon, Grandma goes for a walk in the forest with Scoutbadger, Rosie and Berry. Grandpa stays in the burrow with Woodsy who thinks he is going to have a quiet time but things turn out to be more hectic than he had anticipated.

Rosie would like to spend a night alone, without Berry. Edmund and Margaret suggest that she sleeps, just for one night, in the guest room. Berry is not happy about this and asks her brothers for help.

Woodsy is suffering from not feeling appreciated enough by the forest children. It is always Scoutbadger who does extraordinary things and gets all the recognition. Woodsy is hurt and decides to pull off an exploit - to bring back the scarecrow's hat and so be finally acclaimed a hero.

Pico and Rosie do not agree with the day's plans made by their respective families. Pico dreams of having some independence while Rose wants calm and attention. They decide to change places.

Rosie has promised to accompany Biva to her exam. However, the very same day, her father Basil arrives unexpectedly.

Woodsy has gone camping with Loudo and his father and Scoutbadger finds himself alone. Unexpectedly, Scoutbadger is unsettled by his twin's absence. He is sure that being twins creates a special link between them and now 'senses' that Woodsy is in great danger. He wants to find out what is happening.

Scoutbadger still has a soft toy, however this morning it is not in its usual place at the bottom of the bed. Scoutbadger has to find it but how can he search without revealing what he is looking for and perhaps having the others make fun of him?

Is Rosie hanging around with the Tomcats? Scoutbadger and Woodsy have some good reasons for thinking so...

Scoutbadger and Woodsy, young badger twins, live with their father and their baby sister, Berry, in a burrow in the woods. Their life is very quiet until Mrs. Fox and her daughter Rosie move in! The lively Mrs. Fox brings joy back into Mr. Badger's life but for the children it means having to accept a new sibling. Ultimately, they learn to get along... All's well that ends well!

While their parents are absent, Scoutbadger, Rosie and Woodsy have to agree on the next family outing. Rosie and Scoutbadger quickly have different suggestions. Each tries to persuade Woodsy to vote for their idea. Finally, Woodsy comes up with a different suggestion but is disappointed when the other two do not even listen to him.

Scoutbadger is detained by Edmund and asks Martis (his best friend) to take their group of friends to the hazelnut tree that Martis spotted from the top of his tree. It is full of nuts and they must collect them before the village Tomcats beat them to it. Martis is very proud of his task but on the way his 'bossy' attitude is catastrophic and irritates the children.

As the family are gathering in food for the winter, Berry becomes ill and is the focus of her parent's attention. Her brothers and sisters, who would rather laze around instead of sorting redcurrants or nuts, notice this. Now, one after the other, they all fall ill... with much playacting.

Rosie, Scoutbadger, Woodsy and Berry decide to put on a show for their parents. They make a little theatre but Scoutbadger wants to control everything and thinks he is a star. His team quits and each one goes off to rehearse an act alone. Woodsy will juggle with plums, Rosie will walk on stilts and Berry will do acrobatics.

Grandpa Fox has brought some elderberries for the children. Unknown to the others, Edmund swallows one and then learns that the number had been calculated so that each child received the same amount of berries. Edmund slips away to find another elderberry. Meanwhile, the children share out the berries and find that there are three left over. What should they do ?
