This spy thriller centers on Nessa Stein (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a beautiful and powerful Anglo-Israeli businesswoman who strives for equality and peace in the Middle East, heading up the powerful Stein Foundation with her brother Ephra.

The hunt for Kasim prompts the head of MI6's Middle East desk to look into who killed Meshal and why. He starts to make headway into his investigation by questioning Meshal's apparent lover, who is not all that she seems.

Nessa receives a mysterious phone call from a man who threatens to divulge secrets from her past in Gaza. The mysterious phone calls become increasingly regular and threaten Kasim’s life if Nessa refuses to do whatever she is asked to.

Nessa’s security advisor follows a lead he believes will help him uncover the identity of Kasim's kidnappers. However, Nessa is forced to reveal this to her mysterious caller to protect Kasim.

Nessa has to face the painful secrets of her past to protect Kasim, but she's not the only one with something to hide.

A chilling discovery about a wiretap on the Stein data cable comes to light, while a new Palestinian businessman, Jalal El Amin, approaches Nessa demanding a partnership in exchange for Kasim's safety.

After learning that it was Ephra who ordered the wiretap, Nessa confronts him over his corrupt practices whilst he was at the helm of the family company, leaving Kasim's life hanging in the balance.

The real interest of Israeli powers in the Stein company and connections is revealed. This means an uneasy alliance with El-Amin for Nessa.

Nessa re-emerges as a captive in Hebron, from where she tries to find Kasim and bring him home, but now her life is under the threat of the CIA.
