Ana and Lucia, 11-years-old, disappeared one day after school. Five years later, Ana reappears. Lieutenant Santiago Bain and Sergeant Sara Campos arrive in town to take charge of the case--and to find Lucia.

Ana can’t identify her captor, so Santiago and Sara focus instead on locating where the girls were held for five years--and where they assume Lucia is still being kept.

The residents of Monteperdido are uncomfortable being treated as if they are all suspects. Ana tries to reintegrate into normal life, but her return has stirred up secrets that will put lives at stake.

Santiago and Sara are managing to construct the years of Ana and Lucia’s captivity, and to better understand the kidnapper. But Lucia's parents are not willing to sit idly by; they do not hesitate to use Ana to try to find Lucia faster.

No one trusts Sara, despite her finding a clue that will bring them closer than ever to Lucia. The facts are increasingly evident: the kidnapper is hiding among the neighbors of Monteperdido.

How far are the residents of Monteperdido willing to go to keep their secrets safe? Everyone lies, and no one is safe, but Sara knows bringing the truth to light is the only way to get Lucia back.

A discovery in the investigation makes Sara question Ana: has the girl been hiding something from the beginning? But Sara cannot ask her questions, because Ana has disappeared.
