The heat of Summer months in Central Otago is usually is enough to keep even the keenest hunters off the hill, but not us. After a huge Red Stag is spotted on a mid January reconnaissance trip, the lads return 3 weeks later in the hope of a return visit, and also in the hope that the big 12 pointer will have begun to strip his velvet to reveal the prized antler beneath.

Canada Geese are held in extremely high regard internationally as the king of all game birds, however, here in New Zealand they have recently been reclassified from game species to pest, mainly due to their overabundance and their destruction of farmland. In this episode, we head to the famous Molesworth Station, New Zealand's largest working farm, to lend a hand in reducing numbers.

In this special double episode, the team head into Fiordland for the 'Bugle', the time of year when the prized Wapiti, the largest and most majestic of all deer species, are in full voice. Wapiti are the holy grail of NZ hunting, but the country they inhabit has a reputation for breaking even the hardiest of hunters, with incredibly dense, steep mountains and highly unpredictable weather.
