The Magnificent Mosques of Turkey

The most famous mosque of Bursa which contains a historical structure and artifact in each point,is undoubtedly the Ulu(Grand) Mosque.Grand Mosque of Bursa,one of Turkey's most magnificient and the most important historical structure.The construction of the mosque,which was built by the Ottoman Sultan Yildirim Bayezid,began in 1396 and was completed in 1399.

It was built in 1796 during the Ottoman period. Izzet Pasha Mosque is similar to the architecture of Nuruosmaniye Mosque in Istanbul. The mosque is among the works that reflect western influences on Turkish architecture in the 18th century.

Suleymaniye Mosque, one of the main works of the Ottoman Empire, was built by Mimar Sinan. Sinan, one of the greatest architects of Turkish history, describes this work as "my journeyman's work". The construction of the mosque, which was built by Suleyman the Magnificient, began in 1551 and was completed in 1558.

Known as Mihrimah Mosque or Iskele Mosque with its use among the people, it draws attention with its construction story as well as its architecture. It was completed in 1548.

Edirnekapi Mihrimah Sultan Mosque is the other mosque of the same name located next to the historic walls in the Edirnekapi section of Karagumruk Disrict on the other side of the Bosphorus. The architect Sinan, who personally chose the place to be built, started the construction of this mosque in 1562 and completed it in 1565.

Hagia Sophia Church of Trabzon is located in the city center. It was built between 1250 and 1260 and is one of the significant historical values of Trabzon. It is called Hagia Sophia and it means Sacred Wisdom. It has continued to serve as a church after the conquest of Trabzon in 1461 by Mehmed the Conqueror. In 1584 it was converted into a mosque.

In the Uskudar district Istanbul, Camlica Mosque is the largest mosque in the history of the Republic of Turkey. The construction of the mosque started on 29 March 2013 and the first prayer was performed on 7 March 2019. The official opening date of the mosque was 3 May 2019.

The Blue Mosque was built by Sedefkar Mehmet Aga between 1609-1616. It is called by Europeans as Blue Mosque because of its interior blue tiles which was used more than 20.000 pieces. It is a popular tourist site in Istanbul. The building is not just mosque, it is also a social life complex.

Ulu Mosque with its minarets rising to the sky in 1300 and the mosque built by Hamitogullari Dundar Bey became devastated and unusable in the following times. The building, which was rebuilt in 1749, was damaged once again by an earthquake. It was rebuilt in a neo-classical style in 1935 and opens its doors to those who still want to worship with its magnificence.

Antakya is a city where diffrent beliefs live together. Habib-i Neccar Mosque, which includes the tomb of Habib-i Neccar, who was one of the first believers in the teachings of Jesus and Christianity and was killed for this reason, is the first mosque in the city and is one of the first mosques in Anatolia.

The Hunat Complex was built by Mahperi Hatun, the wife of the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad. Hunat Hatun Mosque is one of the buildings that form the complex in the center of Kayseri. The building stands out with its cut stone workmanship and walls resembling the castle.
