In the season premiere, Axl returns home from Europe with a man-bun and a new outlook on life; Brick decides to break up with Cindy; and Sue has a summer of fun in two days.

Frankie discovers that if she gives Nancy gifts from around the house, then Nancy returns the favor by cooking something special for her; Axl gets a job driving the school bus.

Axl invites Frankie & Mike to meet Lexie’s rich parents (LISA RINNA & GREGORY HARRISON, but she’s worried that their non-luxurious lifestyle could put a damper on their meeting.

As Halloween approaches, Frankie discovers that a woman died in the bathtub of the Heck house 50 years ago – and she and Brick are convinced that she was murdered.

When Mike (NEIL FLYNN) asks Sue to help plan a romantic evening for his 25th wedding anniversary with Frankie, Sue puts her foot down and declares she won’t be that person anymore.

Frankie’s mom (MARSHA MASON) stays at the Heck house after becoming ill – which leaves Frankie at her beck and call. And Sue suggests to Sean that they set each other up on dates.

The Hecks Thanksgiving road trip goes awry; and with Axl now working with Sue and Brick at Spdusy’s, one of them needs to quit.

Axl visits Hutch in Chicago and discovers that his once free-spirited college roommate is now a responsible adult; and Sue can’t sleep after accidentally watching a horror film.

Celebrating The Middle’s 200th episode, Frankie must find an item for the Orson time capsule, while Mike is stunned to learn that Bill and Paula Norwood are separating.

Axl is not going to church this year for Christmas, while Mike goes to war with the Glossner kids after they deface his snowman; and Brick wraps a present.

Sue isn’t sure if her kiss with Sean was real or a fluke, while Mike, Axl and Brick are shocked to discover what Big Mike (JOHN CULLUM) has planned on a mysterious road trip.

Axl starts to bond more with Mike, now that he has a real job – leaving Frankie feeling ignored. Brad pleads with Sue to introduce him to Aidan’s handsome friend (CORBIN BLEU).

Reverend TimTom (PAUL HIPP) offers Frankie the perfect solution to her quandary over finding life’s third act; while Lexie fools Axl into thinking he’s becoming lucky with money.

Mike’s wayward brother Rusty (NORM MACDONALD) presents Sue with an extravagant gift, which Mike assumes is stolen. And Axl blows his first paycheck on a big screen TV.

Frankie takes Sue to a bar on her 21st birthday; Mike takes Brick to a “Planet Nowhere” convention; and Axl and Hutch take a road trip to Ohio for Kenny’s wedding.

Mike is offered the position as Regional Manager of the quarry, while Brick believes that his health teacher is treating him unfairly for having to deal with Axl back in the day.

It’s the Orson showdown of the century when the Hecks – along with the Donahues and Bill Norwood – wage a war against the Glossners after they steal Sue’s car.

Frankie tasks Mike with teaching Brick dating etiquette when they learn that Brick and his girlfriend Cindy have been making out all over the school.

The good Dr. Goodwin (JACK McBRAYER) shows his dark side when Frankie fails to deliver the peanut brittle he purchased when promised; Frankie sees something flying in the house.

Frankie forces Brick to ask Cindy to the prom; Lexie convinces Axl to buy Sue a belated 21st birthday present; and Mike is frustrated with the new TV remote.

Sue and Brick try to give Frankie the best Mother’s Day gift ever by entering a trivia context whose prize is a trip to London to view the Royal Wedding.

Frankie makes it her mission to ensure that Axl doesn’t take the job offer in Denver, while Sue’s heartbroken she never told Sean how she felt before he left for Ghana.

The Heck family take a road trip to Denver where Axl will start his new job and life away from Orson in the one-hour series finale.
