The Old Rifle

Word spreads that the Russians are planning to evacuate Moscow. The Russians fall back from their position near a small village, leaving the locals without protection. The Nazi regime quickly takes over. Petya and Lyuba must find a way to survive the occupation.

Lyuba hides an ill Russian soldier in the barn, but struggles to give him medical treatment. Lacking the proper medication, Petya's condition worsens. When Nazi soldiers unfold the secret in the barn, the entire village pays for it.

After losing his beloved Lyuba in a sea of wicked flames, Petya unveils his old rifle for revenge. Using guerilla tactics, he terrorizes the remaining Nazi men stationed in the monastery: disrupting their communications, supplies and sanity as if he was a ghost. Meanwhile, Petya meets with someone quite unexpected.

Just slipping from the Nazis clutches, Petya is saved by a group of Russian refugees. Although they offer him to remain with the group, Petya goes back in search of Fedka to honor his promise. Russian forces arrive just in time.
