Years ago, journalist Peggy left her hometown of Oldenheim, a quiet little village in the Dutch countryside. Now she’s returning home to reconnect with her father and sister. On the very same day, 16-year-old girl Nine disappears from the town, her bike in a ditch offering the only clue to her disappearance.

A large-scale search for Nine is underway, led by Detective Sharif Dahmani. When a second person in Oldenheim mysteriously goes missing, it’s apparent that this is not a clear-cut case.

As the inhabitants of Oldenheim start to mistrust each other, Sharif’s investigation reveals the darker side of the town. Peggy impedes the investigation in an attempt to exonerate her father.

After a third disappearance, Sharif is having trouble keeping the case under control. Peggy blames him for not doing his job properly and starts her own investigation, which leads her to a terrifying place.

Fear is taking control in Oldenheim. Arend has had enough and goes looking for help, while Peggy is once again haunted by nightmares. Meanwhile, Sharif is following a trail related to constellations.

Sharif’s investigation seems on the verge of a standstill, until a new suspect comes into play. When more secrets are revealed, the townsfolk are surprised by an event that overturns the whole case.

The return of Nine gives everyone newfound hope. However, Nine refuses to talk about the disturbing marks found on her body. Where was she and what happened to her? And what fate awaits the other missing persons?

Paranoia has reached an all-time high in the village, as more and more people are convinced that the disappearances are the result of something supernatural. With the press only encouraging these stories, Sharif has his work cut out for him to restore peace in the community.

Afraid of becoming the next victim, the people of Oldenheim are starting to flee from the danger. Peggy must remain to care for her father, and tensions are running high, but at least Victor has managed a breakthrough with Nine.

Peggy and Sharif are hot on the heels of the suspect but are unable to prevent more people from leaving town. Nine is tormented by nightmares, which might give her more insight into her ordeals.

Sharif is taken off the case, and the army begins to evacuate Oldenheim. While Sharif is forced to leave town, Peggy continues the hunt for the suspect on her own, with disastrous consequences.

Bit by bit, the explanation for what happened in Oldenheim is becoming clear, but the truth comes at a high cost. Who will be the final victim?
