The World From Above

This journey begins at the heart of Tuscany, in the hilltop city of Orvieto. Soon after we'll discover the town of Civita di Bagnoregio. As we continue West towards the sea, we'll explore the spectacular Renaissance Gardens of Vignanello. After taking in the scenery of the Tuscan countryside, we'll make a brief stop at Pitigliano, a town with a unique history of religious coexistence.

This journey begins around the coastal plains of Georgia, with a landmark in military history at Fort Pulaski. We visit the nearby historic city of Savannah and then head south to another stronghold from the American Civil War, Fort McAllister. Continuing through the wetlands of the Altamaha River we arrive at Blackbeard Island, the supposed site of the infamous pirate's buried treasure.

This journey begins in the forests of Thuringia, which have inspired creatives and theologians for centuries. Then, it's on to the town of Fulda, resting place of Germany's Patron Saint, Boniface. From there we'll weave through the skyscrapers of Frankfurt, continental Europe's financial powerhouse, before delving back into the rolling mountain forests at the formidable Trifels Castle.

This journey begins along the Humber Estuary, at the beaches of Spurn Head Passing, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. Then we head towards Drax Power Station, the biggest coal-fired plant in the UK. At York, we tour the ancient city, home of one of Europe's greatest cathedrals. It's then on to Castle Howard, made famous in the classic TV series, 'Brideshead Revisited.'

This journey begins at the popular beach resort of Ocean City. Crossing the peninsula, we stop at the fishing town of Crisfield, nicknamed 'Crab Capital of the World'. Back across the water we find the dense marshlands of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. It's then on to St. Michaels, which after the war of independence came to be known as, 'The town that fooled the British'.

This journey begins at the border of Switzerland and Italy, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. From there we fly north, passing ancient castles and medieval villages. It leads us along the San Bernardino Pass over the soaring Swiss Alps. We then cross the border into the smallest and wealthiest country in Europe, Liechtenstein, visiting the capital, Vaduz, before heading back into Swiss Territory.

This journey begins at the city of La Rochelle, once an important medieval port. From there we'll cross the bay to Ile d'Oleron. Our route south takes us over the vast swathes of the renowned oyster farms of the Charente-Maritime region on the way to the resort town of Royan. We'll make our way along the Gironde estuary, leading us to some of the most prestigious vineyards in France.

This journey begins around north Spain at the Basque Country resort town of Hondarribia. We venture into the Navarre region and the Pyrenees Mountains that form a natural border between Spain and France. We'll pass many of the quaint mountain villages, such as Roncavalles, that line the medieval Pilgrim's Road.

This journey begins at Highclere Castle, the location for one television's biggest drama series. It's then on to Winchester, once the capital of Anglo-Saxon England. We travel south across the countryside to the seaside town of Portsmouth, home to the world's oldest warship. From there, we tour the sites of South Downs National Park, where we explore England's ancient past.

This journey begins on the border of western Montana in the Bitterroot Mountain Range. We enter the Kootenai National Forest for our first look at some of the country's most pristine bodies of water as well as the engineering masterpiece that is the Libby Dam. Our journey concludes with an exploration of the stunning scenery around Flathead Lake.

We begin along Portugal's southwest coast on the Troia Peninsula. We'll fly down to Cape St. Vincent to the country's westernmost point, and the epicenter of the Portuguese Empire's Age of Discovery. Crossing the southern Algarve coast to Ponta da Piedade, we find strange offshore rock formations that have given rise to ancient myths of perilous seas.

This journey begins in Spain's Andalusian region where we explore Europe's second highest mountain range at the Sierra Nevada National Park. From there, we visit the first renaissance-style castle built outside of Italy among the white villages and fortresses of the mountains. We continue across the province of Almeria, to discover Europe's only desert, the Tabernas.

This journey begins on the outskirts of London at Hampton Court, one of the few remaining palaces of the Tudor King, Henry VIII. Following the River Thames we head to the town of Henley whose boating tradition has given rise to numerous Olympic champions. Amongst the lush hills of Oxfordshire is one of the most famous prehistoric hill figures in Britain, the Uffington White Horse.

We begin in Portsmouth on the New Hampshire coast. Following the shoreline, we'll turn inland toward Exeter, one of the state's oldest towns. Then it's over New Hampshire's famed autumn foliage, on the way to one of the top race tracks in the US, the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. We'll visit some of the state's most impressive lakes before continuing into the vast range of the White Mountains.
