One morning, six-year-old Amalka hears her family arguing behind closed doors. Something about being unhappy, fairy tales, and doing everything wrong. Upon getting the adults' attention, she is told her grandparents will be taking her on a day trip. After an idyllic afternoon at the lake, Amalka learns what the earlier fuss was all about - her mother wants to leave and live as an artist in Prague.
