Tupac: Cover Up

Tupac Shakur signs with Death Row Records and realizes (perhaps too late) that all is not as it seems with the label. This becomes clear in the weeks before his tragic demise; even his bodyguards know "something is not right."

After a turbulent and violent evening September 6, 1996, Tupac Shakur is shot while stopped at an intersection in Las Vegas. From the moment he is rushed to the hospital, and while Vegas police are scrambling to know where to begin their investigation, a group of self interested parties collect to develop a false narrative concerning exactly who was behind the shooting and why

While the "False Narrative" continues to evolve, Los Angeles Police and Compton Police begin to advocate to Las Vegas Police that the shooting is a "Compton Problem". At the same time, with Death Row Records head Marion "Suge" Knight newly incarcerated, insiders at Death Row Records attempt to steer the Las Vegas Investigators' attempts at interviewing witnesses to the shooting.

The stagnant and derailed Vegas Shakur murder investigation is also investigated by two detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department who could not be more polarized from each other. 1997 detective Russell Poole is regarded by many, including the FBI, to be the closest to smashing the False Narrative and exposing those involved.

By 2009, the continuing evolution of the False Narrative is thrust into the public spotlight when the Kading book "Murder Rap" is published. Yet, Vegas police appear to be doing little to follow those leads- and there may be good reason for it. Kading introduces Duane "Keefe D" Davis as a material participant in the 1996 shooting- which happens to evolve the False Narrative more.

By 2018 Las Vegas Police announce they are "reinvigorated" by "Keefe-D"'s alleged confessions on television that endorse Kading's "Murder Rap" story, and in 2023 secure a Grand Jury Indictment against Davis. But 2018 appears to be relevant to Vegas for more than that reason.
