War Junk

There really is no more iconic battlefield in Canadian History than Juno Beach. The landings on D-Day on June 6th, 1944 define the courage and sacrifice of our troops during WW2. The images remain with us of those brave young men who faced strong German forces as the ramps of the landing crafts dropped and the battle of Normandy began.

Vimy Ridge is Canada's most known WW1 battle. The War Junk team quickly discovers that there is more to the battlefield than the trenches and craters that scar the land. The fighting at Vimy Ridge also went below ground.

The team travel south of Rome to investigate the Monte Cassino area of Italy. This was one of the bloodiest campaigns fought as Allied forces marched up through the Liri Valley from end of December 1943 until May 1944.

In April 1945 Canadian troops were in a viscous battle against strong German opposition as they moved through Northern Holland on they're way to liberating the Dutch. The War Junk team's objective is to tell the story of liberation through any artefacts they find.

War Junk is a dynamic television series that looks at some of the greatest battles of the First and Second World War by searching, finding, and analysing the War Junk left behind on battlefields of the world and in people's basements, attics and barns.
