The classic story continues as Billy Coleman returns from WWII to his grandfather's home and tries to readjust to civilian life after the traumas of war. Grandpa has a pair of Redbone hound puppies. Billy befriends a young neighborhood boy named Wilson. The hounds and Wilson become his closest friends and together they help Billy to rediscover the gift of giving and caring.
