Turtles are the oldest reptile, having evolved over 220 million years ago. They include 14 families and over 300 species; both carnivores and herbivores. They older ancient than snakes or crocodiles and include Loggerhead Turtles, Green Turtles, Leatherback Turtles, Flatback Turtles, Snapping and Green Sea Turtles, among others. They have always been considered symbols of wisdom and longevity.
