Woof and Joy

Woof and Joy discover the joy and laughter of playing with the sounds and patterns of the English language as they sing the nursery rhyme ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes.’

As Joy is playing a game of ‘Guess the sound’ with her toys she hears a bark which takes her and her rabbit toy on a sound adventure. Will Bunny guess what’s making those buzzing or croaking sounds?

Whilst playing a clapping syllables game with FAB indoors, Joy becomes intrigued about Woof’s busyness. His new invention, ‘The Syllable Machine’, can break words into their component parts, or syllables. Woof, Joy and FAB decide to put it to the test.

Woof and FAB are laying a pattern of coloured tiles on the ground. When Joy arrives, they soon learn that all kinds of things can be read - numbers, pictures, faces… and even dance movement patterns.

Woof is busy building himself a rocket to travel into space. After a difficult start, Joy and FAB support his dream to see his house from space. As the rocket takes off and flies higher and higher, Woof’s home and the earth become smaller and smaller.

After building Paper City, Woof and Joy are shocked to see their new city completely polluted. They try, try and try again to clean Paper City by themselves but they realise they need their friends’ and your help.

Whilst reading a book about’ Children from Around the World’, Woof and Joy begin to notice and become curious about the differences and similarities that make us unique.

Joy discovers how different environments are affected by the weather. Her house is too hot, her tent is too wet and her pirate ship is too windy. She looks around the world for a suitable home where she can draw her pictures in comfort.

Joy is surprised that Woof cannot see all the wonderful pictures in nature she can see. She uses the digital easel to help Woof find the pictures hidden in the environment all around them.

Woof and FAB surprise Joy by creating a magnificent primary colour mixing machine. Our characters explore the importance and fun of mixing primary colours and how they can be combined to create lighter and darker secondary colours.

Woof, Joy and FAB continue to enjoy mixing colours and exploring how to create tints and shades. Woof and Joy need brown and dark blue paint to match the colour of their toys. How can they mix paints to make the right colours?

Woof and Joy’s friends miss them when they are not together. As they draw self-portraits for their friends, Woof and Joy notice their similarities and differences and learn to appreciate their uniqueness.

Doctor Joy is enjoying bandaging her injured rabbit when FAB questions her knowledge of ‘body parts’. Together with the help of Giant and friends, they help Joy to extend her knowledge of the body.

Chips, pizza, ice cream, cake… Yummy! Woof’s new invention, the ‘food generator’, is popping out only unhealthy food. Woof worries that what Giant has eaten is not good for him.

Woof is encouraging Giant to exercise by himself but he wants to do it with his friends as it is more fun. They decide to run around the training ground to strengthen their bodies and hearts.

Woof and Joy are responding to the beat of the music when FAB misinterprets their ‘beats’ for the heartbeat. FAB helps Woof and Joy to understand a 4-beat, slow and fast. Let’s join our friends playing and dancing to the beat of the music!

Ahoy shipmates! Joy and her crew, Bunny, Bear, Kitty, are trying to count and share the treasure but they keep losing count. Woof and FAB show her how to count and share the treasure equally and to discover the joy of counting…buttons, cars, jumps, sounds.

Giant is learning to recognise the different shapes in his wall but he is disappointed when he can’t match them. Joy cheers him up by showing him shapes are all around them.

Joy is trying to sort her treasure but she keeps getting mixed up. FAB and Woof show her how to group everyday objects in different ways, by shape, colour, size, material…even the rubbish.

Joy reflects on how she could move the cube to the top of Giant’s ramp from a distance. FAB provides some advice about push and pull forces. Woof pushes and Joy pulls the cube but with no success.

Joy understands that families can come in many different forms. She celebrates all members of her family and invites them to celebrate ‘Family Day’ with her in Paper City.

Woof decides to adapt his house for extreme weather conditions - too hot and too cold. Joy makes suggestions to change the colours of Woof’s house which confuses FAB.

A game of mini-football presents our characters with a range of ‘feelings’. To help Joy cope and turn her feelings of disappointment and anger into kindness and happiness Woof and FAB share what they do when they have similar feelings.

Joy is attracted to all the wonderful playthings on the toy store screen. With the help of Woof and FAB she learns the difference between needs and wants and the importance of sharing.
