Working the Engels

After the accidental suicide attempt of their mother, Jenna, the youngest member of the Engel family, leaves her job at a big corporate law firm to take over her late father's law practice with help from her sweet ex-con brother, narcissistic mother, and self-help obsessed sister.

Jenna takes her first case as head of the family law firm and Jimmy is all too happy to help out - but ends up sleeping with their opponent. Sandy plans a symbolic funeral for "The Old Ceil."

Jenna wonders if she gave up on her dreams after she returns to her old high school to give a motivational speech and has her invitation revoked, while Ceil tests the world of online dating.

After Ceil is told by her next-door nemesis that the Engels are the neighbourhood crazy family, she is determined to prove everyone wrong. Jenna tries save a roti restaurant, but realizes she doesn't have a case.

When Jimmy gives their grandmother's ring to a stripper, Jenna is forced to get it back - and makes an unlikely friend in the process. Sandy and Ceil attend mother/daughter dance classes, and get wrapped up in a dance competition.

Jenna is offered a posh new client (Scott Thompson) by her neighbour/lawyer (Eugene Levy) who turns out to be a colossal jerk, while Ceil and Sandy start their own dessert company, and Jimmy hooks up with their nutty neighbour Irene Horowitz (Sarah Levy).

A former client (Jacob Tierney) approaches Jenna to handle an important merger on his behalf. But Ceil has infected Jenna's laptop with a virus making her unable to access her files. Jimmy has to keep Sandy calm after she's been served divorce papers.

Jenna takes a case on behalf of her former camp counselor who she always admired, without realizing she's completely crazy. Meanwhile, Sandy tries to rush through her last AA steps to earn her one-year sober chip.

Sandy and Ceil hijack Jenna's Book Club, and convince everyone to read a steamy erotic novel that they secretly wrote. Meanwhile, Jenna represents the local coffee shop owner, Jonny (Gregory Smith), in a dispute with his ex-girlfriend/ex-business partner.

When the neighbourhood cafe owner Jonny (Gregory Smith) is sued by corporate coffee merchants Big Pastry, Jenna steps up to defend the indie baker's rights...even if it means facing off against her old boss Charisse (Jennifer Irwin). Meanwhile, the kids discover that their mother, Ceil, has a mysterious past.

Jenna goes up against a major corporation, Big Pastry, and her former boss (and nemesis) Charisse. Sandy helps Jenna prepare for court, while Ceil decodes mysterious clues that could be the evidence they need to win the case.

Jenna is being courted by other law firms, while Jimmy reverts back to his bad boy ways leading the family to seek counselling from a celebrity therapist.
