Zoo Juniors

At the Alfred Brehm Big Cat House, things are very busy. Siberian Tiger cub Alisha is being hand reared by Zookeeper Angelika, while her colleague Petra looks after the latest addition to the tiger family, nine week old quadruplets. Elsewhere at the Park, Shetland Pony Renate is learning how to promenade.

The Ape House at the Zoo has a new arrival, orangutan baby Rieke. She was rejected by her mother and relies totally on Keeper Christian for her care. So much like a human baby, Rieke needs her nappy changed along with constant cuddles and milk feeds. Meanwhile, Keeper Marzanna is just as busy caring for newborn orphan armadillo Oleg.

Today's animals are all very hungry. For diana monkey Rhea, milk is no longer sufficient. She is weaning and moving on to solid foods. Wallaby orphan Monti is taking his time over his milk bottle and the white barn owls who are training outside will do anything for a tasty morsel.

Today there are fond farewells as well as first hellos. At three months old, tiger cub Alisha needs to play with her own kind. It's a tough morning for Keeper Angelika as she introduces Alisha to a new playmate. For sister diana monkeys Rhea and Xena are introduced for the first time. Will they get along or will the sisters squabble?

It's another busy day in Berlin and for orangutan baby Rieke. The day starts in the middle of the night with a trip to the airport. She is embarking on the journey of a life time, while in the miniature donkey enclosure, there is a brand new arrival to welcome to the city.

It's a huge day at the Park. Siberian tiger cub Alisha is back in town and she's brought along her new mate Dragan. In the deer enclosure, everyone is keen to know if the new arrivals are boys or girls and wallaby Monti is on a big night out with keepers Mr.and Mrs. Walter.

Every Zoo Junior needs a zoo passport and today the vet is visiting the kangaroo enclosure to inject a micro chip under the skin of the latest members of the family. Next door, the elephants attend 'elephant school' and across the city at the Park, the keepers are having another go to introduce the diana monkeys. Let's hope it goes better than the last attempt.

The keepers are run off their feet today. Rhino Betty is in labour and the keepers are expecting a huge delivery soon, while at the peccary pig enclosure, the latest litter is being inocculated with a blow pipe. On top of that, there is a visit from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra because someone in the elephant herd is celebrating a birthday.

The birth of new Zoo Juniors is carefully monitored by the keepers. Today at the elephant house, the keepers arrive for work to a 90kilo surprise. A young owl monkey bites back on a visit to the vet and the rhino calf is christened with a godlike name.

There's a crowd at the elephant house. The paparazzi has arrived to welcome the latest calf, while across the Park, the tiger quadruplets are given A-star names and in the pool, the youngest sea lion puts on a top-class performance.
