Swedish minister Elsa Engström is in Greenland, for a treaty banning oil drilling in the Arctic, when her adviser, Viktor, is taken hostage while aboard a Swedish ship.

While Liv is forced to investigate the hostage case on her own, Elsa struggles to save the treaty. And local police chief, Enok, finds a lead on a witness.

The local communication tower is sabotaged, and a suspect has been found murdered. A connection between the kidnappers and the Russian government comes to light.

Liv and Enok follow a lead, finding grim evidence that puts Liv’s pregnancy at risk. And all signs point to Russian responsibility for the attacks.

The attacks against Elsa escalate, and the bodies in the mass grave are identified. Liv is hospitalized by the strain, and Elsa makes a fateful decision.

Elsa responds to a ransom note, Russia is blamed, and the treaty receives support. Meanwhile, Liv and Enok discover contradictory evidence and follow a new lead.

Ville Berger acquires oil drilling rights, and suspicions point to the Swedes. Enok’s wife witnesses a murder and is abducted, while Liv and Enok make a major discovery.

With the hostages recovered and Berger held responsible, the treaty moves forward, until the US puts pressure on Sweden. Then Liv and Enok make a shocking revelation.
