He's got no style or flash, but Swedish detective Martin Beck is superb at one thing: methodically catching criminals and putting them away. His tightly-wound partner, Gunvald, plays bad cop to his good one. He's also joined in these episodes by Steinar Hovland, an accomplished investigator from Oslo, Norway, whose relaxed manner belies his killer drive in the interrogation room.
