The Hunt for a Killer

Ten-year-old Helén Nilsson disappears during Easter 1989 in the small municipality of Hörby. Six days after her disappearance, Helén's battered body is found, raped and strangled. Detective Inspector Pelle Åkesson sees how the investigation goes off the rails under the leadership of his boss Krister Berg.

The Helén investigation is on the back burner, and Pelle is concerned about its fading existence.

Pelle, Monica and Erik have now solved several murder cases, but the unsolved murder of Helén Nilsson continues to haunt the group. Helén's mother has decided that there will be no gravestone on Helén's grave until the murderer is caught.

Pelle has found someone he wants to take a closer look at. Leif Storm lived next door to Helén when she was murdered and was seen in the discount store an hour before Helén disappeared.

Pelle has secretly and against Berg's wishes sent Helén's DNA to a laboratory in Birmingham. After a nervous wait, the answer arrives.

After 15 years, Pelle and Monica solve the impossible case. Pelle is assigned to lead Sweden's first Cold Case team.
