After almost 4 years traveling the contiguous US living full-time in their RV, Tom & Cait Morton (Mortons on the Move) are embarking on a new adventure: a 6-month truck camper expedition to explore Alaska, Northern Canada, and venture all the way to the edge of the Arctic Ocean.

Tom and Cait follow the build of their expedition vehicle through the factory for the trip north. They also make some special vehicle upgrades for this adventure.

There was a lot to do to actually hit the road, and changing rigs to make this adventure happen is quite an undertaking. The Mortons have to decide what they can live without for 6-9 months and pack the truck camper amidst a looming departure deadline, scorching heat, and Tom falling ill last minute.

The journey north begins with the Mortons' first stop in Reno to build the electrical system and install lithium-ion batteries for the truck camper. They then push through to the US-Canada border to make final preparations.

Having never traveled through Canada before, the Mortons start learning about Canada's nuances and beauty as they begin making their way through British Columbia towards Banff National Park.

The Mortons journey from Lake Louise through the magnificent Banff & Jasper National Parks.. Finally, they make it to the start of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek.

Sometimes it pays off to take the road less traveled. As soon as the Mortons reach the start of the Alaska Highway, they take a detour to find dinosaurs, chainsaw carvings, and travel through lands that soon will be underwater.

The Alaska Highway is the only road connection between Alaska and the contiguous United States. As the Mortons follow it through the Canadian Rockies to the Yukon Territory, they discover the myriad of wonders this lonely road holds for the intrepid traveler.

Tom and Cait venture down the remote Canol Road, and halfway through they have a close encounter with some wildlife that was intent on stopping their travels. The Canol tests them again with some scary driving conditions before they continue over the Top of the World Highway and enter Alaska.

The Mortons' first big adventure in Alaska takes them down the old Denali Highway to Denali National Park. This road runs through some amazing Alaska wilderness and was the original road used to access the park where they find abundant wildlife and glimpse the largest mountain in North America.

As the Summer Solstice approaches, Cait & Tom journey to Fairbanks, Alaska to partake in the Midnight Sun Celebration before following the Alaska Oil Pipeline north of the Arctic Circle, over the Brooks Range, and to the North Slope on the infamous Dalton Highway.

The Mortons tackle their biggest haul yet to the most northern point of their journey - the Dempster Highway and the new Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway that makes it all the way to the shores of the Arctic Ocean.

The Mortons relive the Klondike Gold Rush days in the historic town of Dawson City, Yukon, exploring both the gold extraction and entertainment methods of the past, and becoming honorary Sourdoughs in the most bizarre cocktail ritual involving a human toe.

Alaska is known for its salmon, and they Mortons head out to Valdez to try their hand at catching this famous fish. A hike turns epic when the Mortons have to traverse a river and find themselves underneath the frozen ledges of the massive Worthington Glacier.

From Homer, Alaska, Tom & Cait travel by seaplane to get within meters of massive, salmon-hungry brown bears!

Tom & Cait begin to realize why people choose to make Alaska home as they continue their exploration of the big wilderness via jet skis and helicopter.

Fairbanks, Alaska is one of the best places in the world to view the aurora borealis. The Mortons return once again to the Arctic Circle to see what all the talk is about - and are NOT disappointed!

The Mortons travel out of Alaska along the Alaska Highway to Kluane National Park, home to the 2nd largest mountain in North America which stands just 600 feet short of the mighty Denali! From here they drive to Haines and ride the Blue Canoe to Skagway, visit the smallest desert in the world, and learn how Whitehorse, Yukon got its name.

Colder weather pushes the Mortons south down the remote Stewart-Cassiar Highway for one last Alaskan adventure - a steep narrow drive to a cliffside campsite overlooking the massive Salmon Glacier!

Winter finally catches up with the Mortons as they turn into the homestretch of their journey. In the final weeks, they seize each final adventure knowing that all too soon their time in the north would be up.
