Critical Kingdoms: Stories of Hope

Australia - the driest continent on earth, but with incredibly varied scenery and unique biodiversity. In the last 2 centuries, its resources and wildlife have been exploited. With some of the highest deforestation and mammal disappearance rates, and receding reef systems, we follow those committed to reversing the damage in the Critical Kingdoms of Australia.

Indonesia is an archipelago stretching 5000 km along the equator between Asia and Australia. Once vital to the spice trade and now the largest economy in Southeast Asia, it remains unparalleled in biodiversity. Its jungles, especially in Borneo, face massive deforestation for palm oil. Species like the gibbon and Black Crested Macaque are endangered. Our journey unveils three stories of hope.

Earth’s last great wilderness is under threat. From illegal mining and logging, a rampant trade in animal parts and human settlements, Africa stands on the brink of catastrophe. But efforts are underway: from anti-poaching tech in Kenya to rescued cubs in the Horn of Africa and the return of the mountain gorilla.
