Duty and Revenge

Murdered research doctor Taeko makes her lover, surgeon Fujiki, a fugitive. Taeko's brother vows revenge. Fujiki, under a false name, boards a ship where crew member Mikako suffers a severe injury to her dominant arm.

In the snowy mountains, Fujiki collapses and is saved by Kagawa, a coffee shop owner. Despite Mikako's offer to assist him in finding the culprit, Fujiki declines. The next day, something catches Fujiki's attention in the shop.

Fujiki suspects Kagawa is unwell after detecting an odd taste in Kagawa's dishes and noting behavioral changes, only to find Kagawa has a taste disorder from an auditory nerve tumor. Determined to cook for his daughter's wedding, Kagawa decides to receive help from Fujiki.

While being pressed by Takuro for a murder admission, Fujiki escapes. During the struggle, Takuro grabs Fujiki's phone. At the same time, Takuro, pretending to trust Fujiki's innocence, approaches Mikako.

To meet Professor Tonami in two days, Fujiki hides in an apartment complex with illegal immigrants. There, he helps a collapsed Chinese woman, and they promise to cooperate to avoid police detection.

Despite his efforts, Fujiki cannot uncover a hidden message on the tape left by Taeko. Meanwhile, Takuro, believing that Fujiki and Karasuma are on the brink of contact, closely trails Karasuma.

While Fujiki conducts surgery following his injury at the hideout, Takuro, noticing the situation's gravity, proposes they get themselves holed up. Acting on this suggestion, they communicate their demands to the policemen.

Fujiki, devastated by Tonami's death, confronts the remains of Takeo’s body at Sujikawa's place. Mikako, delving into the keyword left by Tonami, makes a surprising discovery—it is the name of a specific shop.

Fujiki, Takuro, and Mikako are profoundly shaken by Karasuma's grave words regarding Taeko's life and death.

Sasaki's bloodthirsty pursuit of Fujiki and the others continues. Mikako finds a USB drive left by Hasegawa, and Karasumaru deduces that its data is linked to Sasaki's secret clinical trials.
