When the man who murdered her daughter is released early from prison, police officer Luise Berg vows to put him back behind bars, while a seemingly rehabilitated Dennis pursues a vicious plan of revenge.

While Luise's erratic behavior raises questions in both her personal and professional lives, Dennis devises a way to befriend Josi.

Luise suspects that Dennis is systematically taking revenge on his former tormentors. There's another murder -- and Josi's world collapses when she realizes that her new boyfriend Luca isn't at all who he claims to be.

Luise discovers a connection between the most recent murder victim and Dennis. But her rogue investigation prompts her boss to suspend her. Josi tries to hide her connection to Dennis -- but when she sees him again, her life is placed in danger.

After Dennis's arrest, Luise thinks she and her younger daughter are safe, but Dennis is released due to lack of evidence. He lies in wait for Josi and blackmails her with a sex video. She feels the only way out now is for her to run away with him.

After whisking Josi away to a remote hut in the Belgian High Fens, Dennis lures Luise to their location for a final showdown. As Luise follows the trail of crumbs Dennis has left for her, she finds herself trying to reconcile the past and present.
