Meanwhile, with Julia feeling like Santiago has no time for her or their son, Matías, Cristóbal supports them emotionally. And Cristóbal's outrageous actions lead to one of his former lovers stabbing him.

Santiago finds Cristóbal seriously injured by a former lover, Carmen, and in need of a rare blood type he shares with Matías. But the young man has run off with a girl. Julia chastises Cristóbal, and in return he prompts her to take control of her own life. Meanwhile, twins want surgery so they can each have an individual identity. Also, heartbroken by Cristóbal, anesthesiologist Pilar quits.

Julia researches how to continue her medical schooling. Surprisingly, Santiago discourages her, citing Matías's need for his mother. Meanwhile, the twins on whom the doctors recently operated are so shocked by the results that they attempt suicide. Also, with the financial situation of Ciruplastica becoming critical, Cristóbal tries to convince Santiago to take on a drug lord as a client.

The police find a hidden camera in Cristóbal's apartment. Meanwhile, Santiago finds out that the drug gang is following Julia and has kidnapped and beaten Cristóbal. He finally agrees to operate on the drug lord, but a man bursts into the clinic and interrupts the procedure. And Matías's drug dealing inadvertently causes an innocent bullied girl to get in trouble.

As the drug lord is prepared for surgery, a man bursts in and disconnects him from the machines, killing him. Santiago wants to quit the practice. Later, after Julia tries to reason with him, Santiago accuses her of being on Cristóbal's side. Meanwhile, while driving, Julia is chased, causing her to crash. And Matías comforts his classmate Lucia and steals Julia's money to pay his drug dealer.

After the incident with drug traffickers, patients cancel their appointments at the debt-ridden clinic. Cristóbal tries to create positive buzz with an interview, but the journalist humiliates him. After Santiago saves a transvestite who almost dies due to an inept plastic surgeon, Santiago and Cristóbal vow to find out the identity of this "butcher." Eventually, Cristóbal is shocked to find out who the culprit is. Meanwhile, at a wild party, Mauricio touches the shocked Cristóbal seductively. And before telling Julia a secret, Catalina falls to her death from a terrace.
