City Island Sings!

Carry the mail truck delivers the mail as he sings an upbeat, country-style song about the three different types of geographic areas: rural, urban, and suburban. As he makes his way through each area, he describes their distinct landscapes and structures and how they are different from one another. By the end of his route, he has explored the entire geography of City Island!

In a cheery and hopeful song, Watt presents what he would do if he were City Island's Mayor. From conveyor belt sidewalks to roller coaster desks to subway time machines, his ideas are fun, ambitious, and totally original. In the end, Mayor Sitwell appears and helps Watt understand that the mayor’s job is to serve the people, and to work with the community to make City Island a better place.

Today is a school day, and Lidia could not be more excited - thanks to all the adults that make her school a great place to learn! In a high-energy rock anthem, she celebrates the many school workers that she sees during the day, from teachers to custodians and more. Throughout the song, Lidia highlights the awesome work these professionals do to keep her school running smoothly.

Summer is here, which means it’s time for a block party! In a smooth hip-hop jam, Watt and Windy explore their local Brickland block party and all the things that make it great: the music, the food, the games, and most of all, the different kinds of people that come together to celebrate. As they move through the crowd, they highlight the many contributions that made the event possible.

Ringer welcomes Watt into his Media Room and invites him on a tour of all the different kinds of media. Together, they jump through a portal and are transported inside the media itself, navigating book pages, exploring the internet, and even making their way through a video game! At every stop, Ringer explains what type of media they are seeing and how it is used to communicate information.

Sally and Piper are leading a new dance - “The Helper Dance!” In a modern, upbeat pop song, the sisters showcase different ways to help the community through a series of fun and silly dance moves: there’s “sweeping up the room,” “making gardens grow,” “sorting your toys,” and more! Sally and Piper know how to be responsible, effective citizens…and have fun while they’re doing it.

Mark goes totally New Wave in this retro 80’s electronic extravaganza! He explains that money is something people use to buy things - like toys - or to get things done - like fixing a bicycle. You can even buy a robot from the robot store! Throughout the song, Mark also shows off the different increments of money that can be used, including nickels, dimes, quarters, and even dollars.

Follow along with this tribute song to the messiest jobs in the city! Detritus takes center stage to perform a crooner ballad dedicated to messy jobs across City Island. From sanitation workers, to plumbers, painters, builders, and beyond, Detritus celebrates the many messy jobs that keep the city running smoothly.

Watt’s dad Frank takes the spotlight in this glitzy rock anthem all about voting! He defines voting as a way to make a fair choice and presents a number of decisions to Watt and Windy: should they go to a play or a baseball game? How about pizza or salad for dinner? They all vote, and the option with the most votes is declared the winner.

Windy delivers an uplifting ballad about the ways she can act in response to media messages! As Windy and her family are watching TV, they hear a news report that a big rainstorm caused damage across City Island. With the support of her family, Windy finds ways to take action based on the information the news has shared - and as her mood picks up, so does the music!
