OUTLANDER (2014)

While on a second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband after World War II, army nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) steps through an ancient standing stone circle and awakes in 1743, where Scottish rebels save her from an assault by a royal army captain who happens to be her husband's ancestor, only to take her further into the Scottish highlands.

Following her rescue by Dougal (Graham McTavish), Claire (Caitriona Balfe) arrives at the MacKenzie clan's Castle Leoch where she's dogged by rumors that she's a spy.

As Castle Leoch is readied for a gathering of the MacKenzie clan, Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) attempt to treat a young poisoning victim places her at odds with a powerful priest who demands to perform an exorcism.

As Claire (Caitriona Balfe) lays plans to escape during the Gathering, the rivalry between Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Dougal (Graham McTavish) intensifies.

As she accompanies Dougal (Graham McTavish) on a trip to collect the rents owed to the MacKenzies' Laird, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) witnesses brutality on both sides of the conflict between the Scottish rebels and the Royal Army.

As she and Dougal (Graham McTavish) are brought in to see a Royal Army commander, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) comes face to face with her assailant and Frank's ancestor, Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies).

To keep from being detained by Captain Randall, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) marries Jamie (Sam Heughan) in order to become part of the MacKenzie clan.

As Claire (Caitriona Balfe) hangs on to hope that the magical stone circle at Craigh na Dun will return her to the 20th century, Frank (Tobias Menzies) gives up on finding her.

After Jamie (Sam Heughan) rescues Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), they return to a chilly reception at Castle Leoch.

As Claire (Caitriona Balfe) looks to help get the murder charges against Jamie (Sam Heughan) dismissed, Dougal's (Graham McTavish) secrets threaten to unravel the MacKenzie clan. Laoghaire (Nell Hudson) plots to get Jamie back, whatever the cost.

Claire and Geillis are on trial for witchcraft. Jamie manages to rescue Claire, but not before she discovers a secret about Geillis's past.

Reunited, Claire and Jamie make their way to Lallybroch - Jamie's family home. Reality quickly sets in, and old wounds are reopened between Jamie and his sister, Jenny.

Problems arise with the return of a redcoat deserter from Jamie's past, and Jamie and Ian join The Watch, while Claire tends to Jenny.

Claire and Jenny head off to save Jamie from the redcoat captors and meet up with Murtagh, who joins them. The trio employ unusual tactics to get word to Jamie.

A visit from Black Jack causes Jamie to realize a fate exists that is worse than his death sentence. The season finale to Outlander arrives Sunday 31 May.

In the Season 1 finale, a risky escape attempt is engineered to free Jamie, and he's taken to a nearby monastery, where Claire attempts to nurse him back to health, both his mind and body
