Love with a Case

Haruhi Mabuchi of the police department's general affairs is monitoring suspended detective Suzunosuke Shikahama under orders from the chief when Ruka from accounting asks him to solve a case involving a suspicious death. Not a detective himself, Haruhi turns to Suzunosuke for help, but the case gets stalled until Public Safety Officer Sesuna Tsumiki gets involved. ©NIPPON TV

Haruhi shocks Suzunosuke when he announces his upcoming marriage. As Suzunosuke goes into a strange rant about love, young Detective Hattori coops herself up in the precinct for days investigating the murder of a prominent local resident. Worried about her health, Ruka takes the case to Suzunosuke and the four once again gather in the detective's living room to uncover the truth. ©NIPPON TV

Suzunosuke has always been odd, but Haruhi notices his recent strange behavior is due to his crush on Sesuna. Too bad she is busy questioning her own skills as a police officer to notice. Every time she catches a shoplifter, the suspect turns out to be innocent. So Suzunosuke attempts to capture her heart by working with Haruhi and Ruka to help her solve her case. ©NIPPON TV

After a series of attacks on the public, the mysterious World Hero Association declares it will continue to punish anyone who breaks society's rules. As the police investigate the vigilante organization, Suzunosuke reluctantly lets go of his suspicion that his neighbor Morizono is a serial killer. That is, until he witnesses Morizono with multiple women who all appear to be his wives. ©NIPPON TV

Just as Suzunosuke's suspicions about Morizono reaches its peak, he gets tricked by Morizono and ends up locked in a secret room in Suzunosuke's own basement. As the two men learn the truth about each other's pasts, Haruhi finally decides to investigate his brother's death. However, his decision worries Sesuna. Suzunosuke runs into Sesuna in Tokyo, but he is baffled when she acts like a completely different person. He gets even more confused after learning she had been missing for nearly a day. So when Sesuna suddenly visits him, he lets her stay as she opens up about her past with a woman named Risa. Listening to her story, Suzunosuke soon realizes he might have stumbled onto a horrific case. ©NIPPON TV

Haruhi is in shock. He is about to lose both his job and his love. But as he tries to accept his new reality, the friends learn that a body of a college student has been found. Although it looks like an open-and-shut case, Morizono believes otherwise. He turns to Suzunosuke for help, convinced the student is the third victim of a killer he has been looking for five long years. ©NIPPON TV

Even though the police are ready to make an arrest in the college student murder case, Suzunosuke, Sesuna, and Morizono are full of doubts. They believe the police have the wrong person, so they focus their investigation on their own prime suspect. Meanwhile, Haruhi unexpectedly learns an important piece of information that helps him and his friends unlock some of Asahi's past. ©NIPPON TV

Haruhi and Ruka continue their investigation by staking out Yukimatsu's home while Suzunosuke visits Risa in jail. But the closer they get to the truth behind the murders, the more emotional Sesuna and Morizono become. Years of repressed anger and regret begin to explode when they finally find definitive evidence that leads them to the serial killer. ©NIPPON TV

Now that he has Yuzuru's witness statement, Suzunosuke has enough evidence to make his arrest. So he leaves Yuzuru in Sesuna and Ruka's care as he and Haruhi go after the killer. But before they get too far, they lose contact with Ruka. Realizing something is wrong, they rush back to Suzunosuke's house only to be welcomed by a bloody doorstep and a hungry Yuzuru standing at the door. ©NIPPON TV
