L'Accident

Construction boss Gabriel Cauvy notices his wife, Rebecca, behaving strangely, and hours later she is killed in a car wreck. A devastated Gabriel tries to understand why her car was parked facing the wrong way when she was hit, and why there was an empty bottle of vodka in the car since she didn’t drink.

One week after Rebecca’s death, her daughter, Luna, returns to school, but she is bullied by students who believe her mother was a drunk driver. Police Sergeant Solène interrupts a break-in at the police station and grows suspicious when the culprit only steals the file on Rebecca’s accident.

After the police fish the body of Rebecca’s friend Anne out of the water, Solène suspects Anne’s husband, Denis. Gabriel is furious when the police close Rebecca’s case and decides to start his own investigation, but with Solène asking tough questions, he fears tarnishing his wife’s reputation further.

When a shot is fired into Luna’s room, Gabriel takes his daughter to stay with her grandparents. Gabriel confronts Rebecca’s friend Iris about the large sum of money he found in Rebecca’s closet. Iris tells him about their money-making scheme, and Gabriel is shocked to learn how it affected his own business.

After being saved from the fire caused by shoddy electrical materials, Gabriel has tough questions to ask his employees. The police find the body of another victim, and his death could not possibly have been an accident.

Gabriel and the police had assumed the man they killed was the head of the trafficking network, but then another corpse turns up. Gabriel finally gets closer to finding out what really happened to Rebecca.
