The Vicar of Dibley

Back home after an extended honeymoon, newlyweds Alice and Hugo are now in a perpetual state of bliss. However, they are in for a huge shock. Alice is worried that is getting fat and losing her sexual allure. She has put on four pounds in a month! Of course, neither of them has any idea that her expanding belly contains a baby Horton.

As the nights draw in and autumn turns to winter, the parishioners of Dibley get busy planning their Christmas nativity play. Having been left in charge of organizing the show, dippy Hugo has compiled an agenda that runs well past Christmas and into the New Year. So it is left to Geraldine to hastily mastermind a Christmas nativity to make Dibley the shining star of the district.

As winter melts away, the first flowers of Spring are blooming, as is the new edition to the Horton family.

Summer in Dibley is a scorcher, but this year, the water company are not only putting a hose-pipe ban on Dibley, they want to put a reservoir on it.

It is now 10 years since Geraldine became the first female vicar of England's most eccentric parish, and everyone in Dibley is determined to celebrate her anniversary. As usual, nothing goes quite as planned.

It is the start of 2005 and Geraldine is very keen to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Live Aid - something the villagers are not initially over-enthusiastic about. Geraldine is less keen to celebrate her landmark 40th birthday - in fact, she doesn't want it mentioned at all. Naturally, the Church Committee disagrees and sets out to make it a birthday to remember.

The chocoholic vicar decides to bring some culture to England's most eccentric parish by forming a book club - the only downside being that it involves the likes of foul-mouthed, but lovable Owen Newitt actually reading a book.

Could charming, handsome Harry be Mr Right? Or is he Mr How Wrong Can You Be? When Harry asked Geraldine to marry him she couldn't say yes quickly enough. Naturally, things don't quite go according to plan. The festive season in Dibley is, as ever, a truly unique ecclesiastical experience - a charming tale of love, confusion, unrequited love and utter chaos with a very happy ending indeed.
