In 1998, an alleged mass suicide attempt on the Spanish island of Tenerife leads to the arrest of Heide Fittkau and over 30 of her followers.

Unable to prove her intentions, the police release Fittkau from prison – though investigators continue to monitor her activities.

Spanish investigators travel to Fittkau’s native Germany in hopes of finding evidence that might lead to her conviction.
