Attack on Titan

Shiganshina District, a city on all sides surrounded by a wall over 50 meters tallー Humanity has made such walls to protect themselves from the Titans. A young boy Eren who yearns to explore the outside world lives in the walls with his trusty friend, Mikasa. Hearing about the return of the Scout Regiment who explore the outside world, he goes to welcome them but is greeted by unexpected sight.

For the people who live in Shiganshina District, the attack of the Titans turns their lives opposite. Amidst screams and cries of agony, they all scramble to be the first to escape. However, as they're gobbled by Titan's mouths one by one, humanity learns they are merely food for the Titans. Powerless to rescue his mother who is eaten before his eyes, a hatred for the Titans surges within Eren.

In hopes of arming themselves with "ODM gear", humanity's best Titan-killing equipment, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin join the Cadet Corps. Mikasa, Armin, and the other trainees easily clear "posture control", the first step of ODM gear training, but only Eren fails.

After three years of hellish training under Commandant Keith Sadies, graduation is finally in sight for Eren, Mikasa, Armin and their fellow trainees. Eren begins to realize how contradicting it is that mastering Titan-killing ODM gear helps one flee to a safe space far away from the Titans.

Eren confronts the same Titan which destroyed Wall Maria and unleashed havoc upon Shiganshina five years ago. Using his ODM gear, Eren goes to attack its weak spot at the nape but is suddenly blasted by steam and loses sight of the Titan. Eren and the others defend against the second wave of Titans in hopes of repairing the broken gate in the wall, but can they even fight back the Titans?

Thomas, Nack, Milieus, Mina, Eren... Squad 34 is being wiped out one by one while defending the rush of Titans. Conny comes to rescue the sole survivor Armin who is so distraught by what happened that he loses grip on reality. Meanwhile, Mikasa, who's fighting as part of a different squad, recalls the day she first met Eren.

The bell sounds out to withdraw all forces, but Jean, Conny, Armin, and fellow trainees are unable to climb the wall due to lack of gas in their ODM gear. Mikasa catches up with them and proposes reaching the Garrison Regiment HQ where the supply soldiers are holed up. Though there's a swarm of Titans circled around it, Mikasa takes vanguard and rushes ahead to reclaim the HQ, but...

After a Titan saves Mikasa from a pinch, Armin has the idea of leading it towards Garrison Regiment HQ to topple the swarm of Titans. Going along with the plan, Mikasa heads for HQ with Conny watching her back. Jean and the others barely slip by the horde of Titans and get there just before Mikasa arrives.

Humans and Titans fight to the death as the battle rages on within Trost District. Though Armin witnessed Eren becoming a Titan snack, he also saw him become a Titan and rescue Mikasa. Unable to believe such an incredulous story, Kitz and the Garrison Regiment turn their weapons on Eren and the others. When Kitz asks "What are you really?! Human?! Or Titan?!", Eren responds with...

Titans can take the form of humans. In this battleground plagued with fear, no one will listen to Eren or Armin's excuses no matter what they say. A cannonball hurtles towards Eren and friends but he shields Mikasa and Armin with a Titan's torso at the last moment. As the steam clears, revealing the group unharmed within Titan bones, Eren makes his decision.

Commander Pyxis, top officer of the southern territories, informs the Garrison Regiment to retake Trost. Eren will transform into a Titan so he can carry a large boulder to plug the hole in the wall. Since more and more Titans march into Trost by the minute, urgent action is required. Though Eren has little confidence in his Titan powers, he's determined to serve as everyone's hope.

A transformed Eren swings a Titan fist at Mikasa, bringing the operation to retake Trost to an abrupt halt. She barely avoids being crushed only for Eren to swing his fist again at Mikasa. Upon hitting himself in the face, Eren's Titan stops moving altogether. When three other Titans approach, Captain Ian who's in charge of the operation struggles whether to call it all off or not.

Armin speaks to Eren hoping to wake him up. When he finally does, Eren carries the boulder towards the gate. To protect Eren from the swarm of other Titans that flock towards him, Ian and the Elite Squad take desperate measures and draw the Titans towards themselves. Though many lives are tragically lost and trampled, Eren eventually manages to drop the boulder and plug the hole in the wall.

Humanity has mixed reactions when it comes to Eren becoming a Titan. Those nearer to the interior fear he'll bring the destruction of humanity, whereas the people closer to the wall hail him as their potential savior. The government debates whether he belongs in the custody of the Military Police or the Scout Regiment. Each side vies for control as the clash for Eren begins.

Eren ends up in the hands of the Scout Regiment's Special Operations Squad, also known as the "Levi Squad". Even among the Scout Regiment, the elites gathered together in Levi Squad all seem to have one or two quirks that set them apart. With a major expedition beyond the wall planned in 30 days, Eren hears from Hange about the Titans captured in the aftermath of the battle in Trost District.

The two Titans captured by the Scout Regiment have been killed by someone. Suspicions fall on the members of the 104th Cadet Corps who are interrogated separately, but never discovered who the killer is. Meanwhile, the time has come for the trainees to choose which regiment they wish to join. Erwin stands before them and gives a speech, but also reveals information meant to be kept secret...

Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, and the others of the 104th Cadet Corps join the soldiers of the Scout Regiment and commence the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission under Erwin's command. As he's relaying signals to the rest of the formation, Armin encounters a Female Titan with "intelligence", landing him in a tough predicament.

Nearly the entire right wing of the Scout's formation is wiped out by the Female Titan. Many are expecting to turn and retreat but instead comes the signal to change course and proceed. However, the Female Titan is trampling through the Scout Regiment's formation and is mowing down soldiers one after another. It isn't long until she catches up with Levi Squad and spots Eren in their mix.

The Female Titan chases after the Titan-killing specialists in Levi Squad. But instead of slowing her down and fighting with the reinforcements, they ride onwards with utmost haste. Eren fails to understand why they're letting the others die and why Levi won't explain the reasons for it. To answer him, Levi offers Eren a choice.

Though they paid dearly for it, the Scout Regiment succeeds in capturing the Female Titan with the Special Target Restraint Weapon. Now, all the Scouts who were in the dark about Erwin's true goal realize the truth. Tightly bound and unable to move in the slightest, the Female Titan unleashes a scream of agony...

Her body consumed by a horde of Titans, the Female Titan vanishes in a burst of steam. Concealing themselves in Scout Regiment garb to blend in, they continue their pursuit of Eren. After disposing of Gunther who's escorting Eren, the Female Titan appears again. Oruo, Eld, and Petra coordinate an attack to topple her, but...

When the Female Titan snatches Eren, Mikasa frantically gives chase. Levi catches up as well and abandons the idea of killing the Titan in favor of rescuing Eren. With his absurd speed and agility for a human, Levi finally manages to halt the Female Titan. Mikasa rushes in to deliver the killing blow, but...

One objective of the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission was to uncover the enemy within. However, the Scout Regiment failed to do so. Not only are Erwin and the others in charge summoned to the capital to answer for their failure, but they're ordered to hand Eren over as well. However, Annie in the Military Police is ordered to escort the Scout Regiment as they pass through Stohess District.

Armin devises a plan to for the group to lure Annie through an underground passage. But realizing his intentions, Annie transforms into a Titan and tries desperately to capture Eren. They flee underground only for Annie, the Female Titan, to stomp them out. Hoping to protect Mikasa and Armin, Eren tries to transform, but...

Annie, the Female Titan, tries to escape but Eren isn't far behind. The two Titans battle recklessly in their fight to the death. As a result, much of Stohess District turns to rubble as a result of their destruction. Nile, the commander of the Military Police, blames Erwin for this disaster. Staring down the barrel of Nile's gun, Erwin continues to claim it was "For humankind's victory."
