While Esther is looking for her husband Eric, Evi investigates a murder case connected to suspected human traffickers, Sylvia and Ingmar. The police offer Sylvia a way out in exchange for her testimony against Ingmar but she declines. That night, she welcomes Eric but a fight breaks out and he runs off. Sylvia suspects one of the prostitutes will talk to the police and tells Ingmar.

Esther reports Eric's missing to the police. She finds out Eric is cheating. Evi has an argument with her husband Gust after she gets drunk on the birthday party of her twins. Ingmar takes Imana to Amsterdam, where he has a fight with his rival Elarbi. Sylvia finds out she is pregnant and wonder if she'll keep it. Later Ingmar receives a phone call that Imana is missing in Amsterdam

Sylvia lies about her abortion. The police confront her with a picture of Ingmar, Petra and their child. Imana returns, crippled by Elarbi. Evi stays over at Sam's house, because Gust kicked her out. Esther discovers her family business is almost bankrupt and that Veronique isn't the girl with the tattoo in the picture of Eric. Esther is overwhelmed during her performance.

The body in the Scheldt is Eric. Esther isn't pregnant and is told that she can't use Eric's seamen now he is dead. Veronique confesses that she has seen Eric at Tropicana and Evi and Sam are going to investigate this. They inform Esther about his visit to the club. Sylvia makes an appointment with the police. Esther decides to go to Tropicana herself and recognizes Sylvia by her tattoo.

Evi and Sam interview Esther on of Eric's death. She keeps claiming her innocence. Thereafter, Esther contacts Sylvia, who doesn't want to talk to her. Sylvia is plotting with the police to help them catch Ingmar in the act. It looks like Evi and Gust are getting close again and for a moment they feel like a normal family, but Evi can't handle it.

Esther keeps trying to talk to Sylvia while she's being questioned again by Evi and Sam. Still focused on Veronique, they follow her and end up at Eric's funeral. Sam finds out she has an alibi. The plan of the police to get Ingmar is ready to start, but then Sylvia warns him and runs off. Esther is shocked when there is an unexpected guest at her doorstep.

Esther doesn't know what to do with Sylvia and gives her money to stay at a hotel. Evi tells Gust the truth, that she doesn't want to be a mother, but Gust can't cope with this. The investigation focuses on Ingmar and Sylvia and Evi works together with Anna and Kamiel. Ingmar finds out Sylvia's residence and she returns to Esther. Sylvia makes Esther a very strange proposal...

Evi and Sam help with a big raid on Ingmar's bungalow park. Evi concludes Sylvia is the new prime suspect in Eric's case. Evi shares her findings with Esther, who confronts Sylvia. Sylvia tells Esther what happened that night and tries to convince Esther to buy her baby. Evi suspects Sylvia is staying at Esther's and decides to observe the house. It seems Ingmar got the same information.

Sylvia and Esther run off together to the hunting lodge of Esther's family. While Evi is following them, Gust lets her know he wants a divorce. Esther is shocked by news of Eric, which damages her bond of trust with Sylvia. This leads to a confrontation between the two. Evi is able to intervene just in time. They are in a rush, because Ingmar is close, and he is determined to get Sylvia back.

There is a confrontation between Ingmar and the three women. Esther and Sylvia try to run off. Meanwhile, Evi chases Ingmar and his accomplices. Esther and Sylvia are heading to Spain, where Eric bought a house where Sylvia could be safe. Ingmar finds a way to get away and he won't rest till he finds Sylvia. Evi is getting confronted with treason of someone in the police force.
