Back from D.C., Rory attends the Stars Hollow festival and realizes her feelings for Jess are stronger than she thought, while Lorelai faces her own.

Christopher has a heated discussion with Lorelai, but Emily intervenes. Francie initiates a power struggle on the student council.

Lorelai and Rory have lunch with a Harvard alumnus. Taylor decides to open an old soda shop next to Luke's Diner. Lane seeks a new band member.

Lorelai and Luke agree to speak about their success at the local high school. Lane attempts to assert her independence.

Lorelai agrees to water a neighbor's plants, ropes Rory and Jess in when it goes wrong. Lorelai asks Emily to track down an auction crush.

Lorelai and Rory attend Sherry's baby shower, pushing Lorelai to her limit. Jess returns with a car, and a town gathers for a not-so-successful demo.

It's the annual Stars Hollow Dance marathon. Lorelai is determined to win. Dean sits in the bleachers to support Rory, but so does Jess.

Lorelai and Rory are still sore from the dance marathon. Richard invites Rory to a Yale reunion.

Rory and Lorelai juggle four Thanksgivings, Lorelai learns that Rory applied beyond Harvard; Lane has her first kiss, and Kirk adapts to a cat.

Richard celebrates his birthday as his mother returns from England; Rory deals with Francie at school, and she and Dean decide to be friends.

Emily is sued by a maid and asks Lorelai to vouch for her, while Francie splits Rory and Paris, and Sookie sets up a blind date.

Lorelai and Rory make space for Lane's band, Luke doesn't mix with lawyers, Paris attacks Rory at a meeting, and Lane's prom plans fail.

Sherry goes into labor and Rory agrees to be with her at the hospital. Lorelai remembers how she had Rory.

Lorelai heads off to New York with Alex, Sookie and Jackson. Meanwhile, Jess gets a black eye and doesn't want anybody to know.

Jess promised to call Rory, but he doesn't. Rory goes to a hockey game with Lane, where she sees Dean with his new girlfriend. Trix surprises Richard.

Rory and Paris finally hear from Harvard. Lorelai and Max meet again.

With the Poe Society in town, an inn fire sends guests to Lorelai's house as Rory chooses between Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

Rory plans Lorelai's birthday party.

Lane's band lands a gig at a local party. Everyone in town is there and it leads to trouble.

Jess' father shows up in the diner, Dean gets engaged, and Fran dies, leaving the inn up for sale

Rory is stressed out over her final exams. Jess visits his dad in Venice, California.

Rory graduates from Chilton, and the girls look forward to traveling in Europe, Yale, and opening the new inn.
