James bangs the coaches by being too rough, and brings the train to a stop. The passengers get home only after a piece of ingenious repair work by the guard.

Gordon the big engine looks silly when the signalman forgets and switches him off the main line on to a loop. James has to pull the express instead, and is very proud.

James is feeling very proud of himself when some boys meddle with his controls, he soon learns his lesson.

James is asked to pull the Express and becomes proud and boastful. His impatience lands him in an undignified situation.

James plays a trick on Gordon, which gets him into trouble. He soon learns that an engine doesn't have to pull coaches to be useful.

James boasts about his bravery but when a swarm of bees start buzzing around him he wishes that they would get back to making honey and leave him to make steam!

James and Percy boast and bicker until Percy ends up in a very sticky predicament.

Thomas gets very dirty working in the coal yard and is angry with James and his boasting about getting a shiny new coat of paint.

When James hears the Queen of Sodor has arrived, he volunteers to collect her. But when the Queen turns out to be a filthy coal barge, he is determined to do the job and stay clean.

It's winter on Sodor and James is less than impressed when all the other engines seem to have more important jobs than him.

James is to be repainted. James loves being repainted and feels very special.

Its winter and the first engine to finish their jobs will get to pull the presents train. Desperate to get the job, James tries to go fast, loses control and comes off the tracks!

The Fat Controller needs an engine for a railway poster. Edward is to be the poster engine, but James is sure that it should be him!

It is winter on the Island of Sodor. James thinks he knows best, so when Hector the heavy truck suggests checking the weather before they leave the yard James does not listen. After taking a wrong turn in the snow; they get trapped behind a snow drift. James realises he should have been listening to Hector all along and asks him what he thinks they should do.

Whilst covered in pink undercoat, James is asked by the Fat Controller to pick up his Granddaughter and take her to her birthday party. James is worried he will be seen by his friends and tries to hide his pink coat from them on the way.

Thomas takes over the Steam Works while Victor is away for the day. Victor tries to tell Thomas how to run the Steam Works but Thomas doesn't listen.

James refuses to wear a lamp to help him see in the dark.

Toby is travelling through the Whistling Woods. After hearing lots of strange noises, he is frightened and reverses quickly out of the woods where he meets Thomas and James. Toby's friends take him through the woods explaining each noise as they go. Suddenly the noises aren't scary at all and Toby is at last happy in the Whistling Woods!

James is asked to be the Sodor Search and Rescue Engine but is horrified when the Fat Controller asks Toby to help him.
