Anna's Wild Life

Anna, Head-keeper Ross and the team head off on a mission to Ross' Irish home. But this is no nostalgic holiday. Anna and Ross are here to pick up 4 extremely rare and very dangerous Scimitar Horned Oryx to take back to the Manor House. Holding this species will put Anna's dream project on course for being part of the endangered species breeding programme.

There's something amiss in Anna's meerkat enclosure. The new female hasn't been seen for over a day. It looks like she may have succumbed to an infection. Anna is determined to breed this pocket sized lion of the savannah and together with head keeper Ross, she embarks on a new approach. Will there be babies? Will the all new meerkat house be finished in time?

Modern day zoo keeping is a far cry from the excesses and cruelties of its Victorian heyday. Today it is all about animal welfare and specialist breeding programmes to protect the biodiversity of the planet's most endangered species.

In the large open enclosures of Anna's wildlife park exotic animals from around the world share their space with all sorts of British native creatures great and small. Anna, Ross and the team are determined to make sure that they provide a safe haven to Britain's rarest wildlife as well as the exotic collection.

After the success of Anna's fact finding mission to Africa, the wildlife park has at last been told where their Rhinos are coming from. The European breeding programme has given Manor House an important role in its long term captive breeding strategy. The park is due to look after 3 young males who will father a new generation of Rhinos in the years to come.

Tommy the tapir has some good news. His sweetheart Rio is pregnant! Anna and the team are determined to create a South American haven ready for the new arrival, and make sure that Rio has the best medical care in the run up to her first baby. Meanwhile head keeper Ross is busy trying to breed African guinea fowl from scratch.
