Manage Prime Video Parental Controls

Learn how to set and manage viewing restrictions for Prime Video.

Parental controls give you a way to set viewing restrictions for the movies and TV shows available to watch through Prime Video.

You can manage your parental controls settings from the Prime Video website and the Prime Video app for Android and iOS.

Set Your PIN

To turn on parental controls, you first need to set a PIN for your account.

Parental controls work by requiring entry of your PIN to bypass viewing restrictions you've enabled for Prime Video.

To set or change your PIN on the Prime Video website:

  1. Go to Account & Settings.
  2. Open Parental Controls from the top menu.
  3. Select Change and enter your 5-digit PIN, then select Save.

To set or change your PIN from the Prime Video app:

  1. Open Settings from the menu.
  2. Select Parental Controls and select Change Prime Video Pin.
  3. Enter your Amazon account password when prompted.
  4. Enter your 5-digit PIN and select Save.

Note: If you’re having trouble with your Prime Video PIN, visit your Account & Settings to reset the Prime Video PIN

Set Viewing Restrictions

Once you've set your PIN, you can turn on viewing restrictions for your account.

Viewing restrictions give you the option to block playback of movies and TV shows based on their Amazon Maturity Rating. You can choose which ratings levels you'd like to restrict, and on which of your registered devices you'd like these restrictions to apply.

To set viewing restrictions on the Prime Video website:

  1. Go to Account & Settings.
  2. Open Parental Controls from the top menu.
  3. In the Viewing Restrictions section select the ratings you'd like to apply to restrictions to.
  4. Select the devices you'd like these restrictions to apply to.

To set viewing restrictions from the Prime Video app:

  1. Open Settings from the menu.
  2. Select Parental Controls and select Viewing Restrictions.
  3. Enter your Amazon account password when prompted.
  4. Use the slide bar to select the ratings level(s) you'd like to restrict.
  5. Select the devices you'd like these restrictions to apply to.

When you have viewing restrictions set, you'll see a "lock" Viewing Restrictions Lock
symbol for movies and TV shows in your restricted age groups. If you try to watch one of these titles, you're prompted to enter your PIN before you can start playback.
