Manage Mobile Data Usage

Learn how to manage the amount of mobile data the Prime Video app uses to stream or download Prime Video titles to your mobile device.

You can watch and download Prime Video titles using your mobile device's Wi-Fi connection.

Whenever you’re using mobile data, notifications typically display on-screen for a few seconds during video playback.

Tip: When accessing Prime Video over your mobile network, keep in mind that the amount of data you use may affect the bill you receive from your mobile carrier.

You can manage the amount of data the Prime Video app uses by setting a default video quality or turning on "Wi-Fi Only" mode in your settings.

To manage mobile data usage on your device:

  1. Launch the Prime Video app.
  2. Open Settings from the menu.
  3. Select Streaming & Downloading:
    • Choose your preferred video quality for streaming and downloading video. The descriptions next to each option indicate the amount of data typically used for an hour of streaming, or the quality of the video download.
    • Select the Wi-Fi Only option to only stream video when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
