Aaron Huggett is an award-winning writer, director, and producer, renowned for his dedication to crafting authentic, action-packed, and character-driven stories rooted in meticulous historical research. His career began with the low-budget feature Flicker (2005), an award-winner at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival that later became part of anti-violence programs across Canada. His follow-up feature, Prodigal (2011), was Best Picture Runner-Up at BCFF, earned a Young Artist Award, and received three ICVM Crown Award nominations, achieving global distribution. Huggett's filmography includes three critically acclaimed, historically based short films-Red Ryan (2016), Black Donnellys (2017), and Black Gold (2018) collectively garnering over 100 accolades. Black Donnellys is recognized among the top 100 highest-grossing short films of all time. His 2022 feature, Battle for the Western Front, also achieved global distribution. Huggett's work is distinguished by his strategic filmmaking approach, consistently achieving exceptional production value and compelling ROI, a track record evidenced by each history-inspired film he has created. His collaborative, disciplined and efficient methodology allows him to deliver results comparable to, or surpassing, many larger productions. A graduate of Lambton College and a 2016 Ontario Premiere's Award Nominee, Huggett's dedication to compelling storytelling continues with his latest project, the WW2 feature The Dead Owe Nothing. Huggett lives in rural Southwestern Ontario, with his wife, two sons, and two golden retrievers.
