Ajit Vachani was an unforgettable character actor of Indian television and films, remembered for his roles in iconic movies like Mr. India, Maine Pyar Kiya, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and popular TV serials such as Chunauti, Mujrim Haazir, Daane Anaar Ke, Junoon, Hasraten, and many more. Vachani began his career in the mid-1980s, a period when Indian television was taking its formative steps. He made his debut with the TV series Bante Bigadte, paving the way for a career that spanned over two decades. With hit serials like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Hum Hindustani, Katha Sagar, Aa Bail Mujhe Maar, Manoranjan, Chunauti, Mujrim Haazir, and Phatichar, he quickly became a household name. In films, Vachani started with small roles in Jog Sanjog (1980), Naari (1981), and Khamosh (1985). His breakthrough came with the negative role of Teja in Mr. India (1987), which opened doors to numerous memorable performances.
