Anissa Matlock was born in Augusta, GA; the oldest of three children in a military family. She credits her family's frequent relocation throughout her childhood for her adaptability, in life and in her work. Growing up, she enjoyed writing and illustrating short stories, performing in backyard plays. After graduating with a B.A. in Theatre, she transitioned into TV and Film. Her first televised role was a bit part in season 5 of AMC's 'The Walking Dead' (2015). Additional TV credits include 2 Episodes of 'The Resident' (2018 & 2021) and 2 Episodes of 'The Gifted' (2018-2019) on FOX, as well as a Guest Starring role in 'Reprisal' on HULU (2019), and a Recurring Guest Star on AMAZON's series 'The Power,' alongside 'power'house Auli'i Cravalho. Most recently, Anissa has gained traction in James Gunn's DCU as Agent Angler in 'Peacemaker' Season 2, on HBOMax. On the big screen, Matlock was noted as a "standout" by Variety & IndieWire in her supporting role in the award-winning feature film 'Beast Beast,' directed by Danny Madden, which world premiered at Sundance 2020. Additionally, she appears alongside Gerard Butler in the 2020 disaster film 'Greenland' and challenges Pierce Brosnan in the 2023 action thrill-ride 'Fast Charlie.' Anissa is also an Atlanta Local Indie Writer/Director, with her latest short film achieving 16 Award Nominations and 4 wins in 2024, and another short script amassing 6 award recognitions, several finalist designations, honorable mentions, and counting.
