
Director
Cate Devaney is a writer, director, and artist from Missouri. She studied architecture and playwriting before moving to New York City, where she began her career in the art department on HBO’s Bored to Death. Through developing her own storyboard concepts, Cate built a portfolio that led to a long-standing collaboration with director Scott Derrickson and Blumhouse Productions, beginning with Sinister. As a storyboard artist, Cate worked across television, commercials, and feature films, including Doctor Strange and Deliver Us From Evil, collaborating with notable filmmakers such as Tommy Schlamme, Alan Taylor, and Akiva Goldsman. She later transitioned into writing and directing, including episodes for Sam Raimi’s horror anthology 50 States of Fright. Cate penned an original feature comedy for Spyglass Media Group and was hired by Adam McKay to do a joke punch-up on his Netflix feature Average Height, Average Build.
