Christos Nikou is a Greek filmmaker, screenwriter and producer who began his career as an assistant director to Yorgos Lanthimos on the film Dogtooth (2009). He made his feature directorial debut with Apples (2020), which premiered in the Orizzonti section at the 77th Venice International Film Festival and was selected as Greece's submission for the 2021 Academy Award for Best International Feature, with Cate Blanchett serving as executive producer. In 2023 he directed his first English-language film, Fingernails (2023), a science fiction romance for Apple TV+ starring Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed. Nikou has served as a jury member at the 2024 San Sebastián International Film Festival and has received multiple awards and nominations across international festivals, including Chicago, Venice, Thessaloniki and London, reflecting both critical acclaim and a growing presence in global cinema.
